For guides like this, the current plan is to add them to Patchouli books (including the processing lines tab), or similar, but terminal flowchart app could also work.
This is usually a very world-specific issue that occurs every now and again... and we have no idea why. Can you give us a world download?
The reason for not updating was high RAM usage, but we will take a look at this for 1.7.1.

That issue is a seperate, relating to advancement checks and general lag. This issue is GregTech asking for an item in an inventory, but the slot its asking for doesn't...
