Грязный хак: указать в свойствах файла (dotSwitcher.exe) на вкладке "совместимость" чтобы всегда с повышенными привилегиями запускался. В этом случае должен стартовать с системой.

Ну правильно, это не должно быть штатной функцией. Это выбор каждого личный.

pw has not been ported to *BSD or Mac OS X

FreeBSD already has [pw](https://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?pw(8)) utility. I think other BSD and MAC OSX has it too.
