With these two modifications from https://github.com/ludwigschwardt/python-gnureadline/pull/67, I was able to compile and use the module again.
Now I tested on my Intel MacBook with macOS Sonoma v14.2.1 (23C71) and Xcode v15.2: when you drag the HE3 window and move your mouse the window was still shaking...
