Why would maintaining compatibility with Python 2 be important? You can run python3 and python2 side by side if you have applications that require python2 on the same system.
I don't know enough to conclude whether it is this exact one, but today while using syncoid I experienced a similar issue. Debian 11, `zfs-dkms` version `2.0.3-9`. Hopefully this helps....
