I'm working on updating demo/test-driving MapZen to MapBox-gl v0.16.0. Following https://github.com/mapzen/vector-datasource/issues/517 I was able to render boundaries using "boundaries" rather than "places" from existing demo. Quite a few low-hanging fruit...
