Sounds like you may have another error. I'm able to get a response from a 2k screen resolution image in ~200 seconds. Depending on the initial icon stuff it parses...

When I input a 1920×1080 image, the memory usage skyrockets and then the program crashes due to insufficient memory. Is this normal?

You likely dont have enough system resources to run an image that size
