I too had the same issue. Turns out my VPN client was interfering with hotel. Disabling the VPN client did the trick.

Big Sur - LaunchAgents - Load error 5: input/output error

I am on Big Sur too, got the same error when I was on Node 14 (v14.20.0). When tried with Node 12 (v12.22.0) it worked correctly.
