You can do this by making an SFX archive with Winrar.
You're overwriting the MEMCARD.MCD file, correct? Just delete it and throw on the new file.
I had the same problem but I couldn't find any bad traces. Did you try the original A/V port? I'm pretty sure with mine I spend soo much time messing...
