the issue occurs because error handling is missing for underlying video player controller initialization calls (example https://github.com/fluttercommunity/chewie/blob/c094ed8ec7751e597a0f09dcf5b6689503793d04/lib/src/chewie_player.dart#L621) the initialization future might complete with platform exception
