What do you mean by -external? I don't think there is such a Q3Map2 switch. Do you mean -export? Also, -lightmapsize is specifically for RTCW/W:ET. It does not work for...
As far as I know, any game utilizing Q3map2 can use .obj models for mapobjects. I don’t think any use .obj out of the box.
I doubt it would be a big deal since I don’t think .obj is very commonly used with GtkRadiant. Perhaps a preferences menu option?
Are your model's shaders listed in shaderlist.txt for GtkRadiant 1.6.5?
Can you provide a test case? An ASE model along with associated textures and shaders?
