XNote++ never as bad as actual
I use XNote and now XNote++ since years.. Noe the features I miss:
- pop up to show existing note when marking mail

- an own column fpr Xnote
-
- using the options described if using context menu
- So I decided to remove it from my system!!!
The problems are solved after all. I think you're searching wrong or Thunderbird is not up to date.

That is correct, we addon authors are running behind changes in Thunderbird , which come unannounced. It is the new Thunderbird code at a Thunderbird update that kills off addons. or breaks something in the addons.
By the way, four years (!) ago I brought into the TB addon team that we need a means to have custom columns. It has sitting with them for four years.
So it might help to address your complains to the Thunderbird team so that they assist addon authors in a faster way.
As for your technical problems: what is the OS, Thunderbird version, addon version?
And if you use Kaspersky, it blocks the update of addons (not only XNote). The Thunderbird team is aware since long that some antivirus software plays "man in the middle" and is blocked from updates, but they don't fix it.
