Expand featured image support in post settings

Open aforcier opened this issue 10 years ago • 5 comments

Currently, the featured image can be set/changed/removed from the post settings screen, but only images from the blog's media library can be used.

This should be expanded to support uploading media from the device and taking a photo.

Note: system permissions checking will need to be added along with this issue, to check and prompt for camera and storage permissions.

This was mentioned by Kirk in alpha testing:

If I click the gear in the top bar when editing a post, I get taken to a screen with the option to set my featured image. If I click it, but don’t have any media, I get an error “no media”, and get punted back to the previous screen. Womp womp.

Derek also mentioned it in alpha testing:

It seems like you should be able to select galley items/featured images off your phone gallery, not just the site’s media gallery.

The related problem is that when uploading a photo into a post and setting it as the Feature Image the option "Include in post content" is gone, so I have to manually remove it to avoid the picture showing up twice.

Javi also mentioned this in alpha testing:

I was ultra-excited to be able to set a feature image (I use them a lot in my main blog), but it was quite a turn down I couldn’t add new ones
