Reader feed: Featured images not being consistently displayed

One of our customers reported that featured images are not being consistently displayed for posts in Reader when Reader is viewed using the Android app.

Expected behavior

In the Reader feed, a featured image should be displayed above the post title, like in this screenshot:

Actual behavior

Instead, the featured image is not consistently displayed in this position in the feed. Often, the featured image above the title is missing and the image is only displayed below the title, like this:

Steps to reproduce the behavior

User shared screenshots from their Android device while scrolling through their feed.

Tested on [device], Android [version], JPAndroid / WPAndroid [version]

Android device. Will update with version details as soon as we have them from the user.
