Is this plugin abandoned?

Greetings, as stated in readme this plugin requires at least WP 3.0.0 and is tested up to 4.5.2. We have WP 6 out now and the plugin has not been updated for 5 years. Is it compatible with latest WP? If not, are there any open source alternatives? Thank you.

I have used the plugin for many years on a site and it still works flawlessly--knock wood. I'd really like to know if it's maintained because I plan to install it again presently.
