fig_cli.msi install step fails.

Sanity checks

  • [X] I have searched github.com/withfig/fig/issues and there are no duplicates of my issue
  • [X] I have run fig doctor in the affected terminal session
  • [X] I have run fig restart and tested again (tell us if that fixed it)

Issue Details

Description:

While attempting to install Fig for Windows, I get the following error during installation and no part of Fig is installed.

Here is the log file from the installation attempt: Fig_20220915085534.log

The msi files fig_desktop.msi, and figterm.msi are successfully placed in the C:\Users\mammen\AppData\Local\Package Cache\ directory but the msi file fig_cli.msi is missing.

Because this file is missing, the installation fails on the Applying execute package: fig_cli.msi ... step.

I am attempting this installation on my work pc, and therefore I cannot disable antivirus for the duration of the fig install. I have looked through the antivirus logs and see no indication it is interfering with Fig's installation. I'm hoping the error codes in the Fig log file will provide some insights to why this file is failing to be created.

The current installer has no observability. I wouldn't be able to help even if you posted the log file associated with the individual fig_cli installation. That being said, I'm currently in the process of building an installer in rust, and that will be out some time next week. This installer will give us any amount of insight we need to get this working, assuming it doesn't work out of the box.
