There should not be duplicate notifications for GIF's.
The problem
Everytime a user sents a GIF I receive two notifications. One for the letters above the GIF and one for the GIF itself. In groups this can get quite spammy even with a few GIF's being sent. I think this should be fixed by having only one notification for the whole package of GIF. both the letters and the GIF.

Just wait for a GIF to be sent.
I think the words should be excluded from the gif post altogether, but at least remove everything except the "giphy.com" text. I don't care to have the text of what I searched post along with the gif.
Hi @MSavoritias , thanks for starting the conversation. At the moment we keep the text for attribution (giving credit to the giphy service). The current solution was the less engineering-demanding way to introduce the feature in the app. It could definitely be improved so that it generates only one notification; however this is a task that, for the sake of compatibility cross-platform, we need to implement on all platforms before we can push out. We have been postponing this until we have more capacity for all teams to work on it.
If in the meanwhile someone from the community would like to try addressing this on Android, we could give some pointers on where to start with a potential PR.
@marcoconti83 What is current status of this issue: is it already not reproducible (since 1.5 years passed) or still present?
Hi @kirillt , no changes have been made to Giphy since then.
