Fail to upload code

Hey, I have a "New NodeMCU V3" which I think is the D1 (?) I flashed the firmware as described here but can't get it to accept any lua code.

nodemcu-uploader.py always crashes with nodemcu_uploader.exceptions.DeviceNotFoundException: Device not found or wrong port.

Any help?
