Suggestion: Name files by date rather than using the original filename
I have long used my homegrown comic strip catcher, but recently I decided to look for an OSS one, and I found dosage. Dosage looks great, and I'll probably switch to it, and I wanted to mention one feature that my solution has that I have not found as an option yet on Dosage.
My solution names files like this: babyblues_20251012.gif andycapp_20251012.gif hiandlois_20251012.gif
So far, I have seen Dosage name them like this: /Comics/Arcamax/BabyBlues/3583084.gif
I would love to have then named something like: /Comics/Arcamax/BabyBlues/20251015.gif
Is there an option to do this today, or could this be considered a feature request?
Thanks.
This is impossible to do in a generic way: Some comics don't even provide this information. As of today, Dosage uses the existence of image files as a kind of "bookmark", so we aim for filename stability over everything else. That is the reason why I'm also wary to change the naming schema for long-existing modules (since that would inconvenience existing users).
That said: I already had the idea to keep more metadata around, so implementing features like this would be easier, so I won't close this outright...
