[Request]: Google Play Music player controls
Would love to move the Google Play Music browser tab into Wavebox.
Some other Electron wrappers for Google Play Music such as this one already exist that incorporate media key controls and desktop notifications. Would be great incorporate these features into Wavebox.
- Wavebox 3.1.8 Ubuntu 16.04 x86_64
I'd suggest making the request to the following issue #131 as Google already has a lot of potential services to add.
I've updated #131 with Google Music. Don't forget to add your vote to the poll in that issue!
Actually it would be awesome to make the media keys events available to javascript API, because it is useful not only for google music, but also for soundcloud and many others
@Thomas101 this issue is really old, but it would be awesome to have play/pause buttons work for Google Music.
For example, if I have Google Music open in a tab on Chrome, my play/pause buttons still register from my headphones and Apple keyboard function buttons. This still works regardless of the window and/or tab being active.
Edit: this extension in combination with the setting View > Developer > Allow Javascript from Apple Events to be what enables the functionality that I currently have in Chrome.
This functionality may also require Accessibility access on macOS. I tried adding Wavebox but that did not help.
@Thomas101 would it be better to open a separate issue for this? I think about this every day! I also updated my above comment
@dockleryxk I'll re-open this one. There's a huge amount of work underway which extends the extension api, which means the one you linked to should probably work and give media control access. I'll drop up an update when it's live
Actually I also think about it every day and sometimes I even see it in my dreams
@Thomas101 one last reccomendation: make sure it works with Youtube Music first a foremost, because it will eventually replace Google Music. But both ought to work the same way. Thanks!
@Thomas101 I'm back! I'm loving Wavebox 10, but this functionality in our discussion does not work, unfortunately. I was able to install the Google Play Music app (which correctly prompted me to allow accessibility access to Wavebox), enabled View > Developer > Allow Javascript from Apple Events, and finally added Google Play music. No dice though. Am I missing something? Or is this just one of those niche things that won't work? Thanks!
@dockleryxk Please see https://github.com/wavebox/waveboxapp/issues/1223 until that is resolved nothing that requires DRM will work.
