Paste on right click mouse

Describe the solution you'd like?

I wanted to be able to paste from the clipboard with the right mouse button, I made a script in KDE that whenever I focus/open a Warp terminal I remap the right mouse button to ctrl+shift+v and it works, but I would like this function to be available natively for all users, optionally.

Thanks for submitting @SaladinoGW We've recently added middle-click paste support on Linux so that may help as a stopgap (if you're on Linux and your mouse supports it).

I've seen you referring to the addition of middle-click support in similar feature requests, but I do think at least the option to have paste on right-click is a must. Personally I haven't used a three button mouse in many years, so right-click pasting is deeply embedded in my muscle memory. And Warp is the first terminal I've encountered that offers no way of enabling it. Which seems odd given the wide array of exclusive features I didn't know I needed before Warp. :) EDIT: Oh, and we need it on MacOS, not just Linux. Muscle memory doesn't care about the OS.

I would say it is the only missing feature that stops me using Warp 🤔 it's installed on my laptops, but I don't use it because of that

The only reason I use wezterm instead of warp is cuz it lacks right click paste support. I agree right click is meant for the context menu but for some ppl they don't need a context menu and they just use right click to select and paste content. So it would be pretty cool to add this support

FWIW, I don't agree that right click should always result in a context menu, not in the workspace of a terminal. I realise the Warp team is about redefining what a terminal is, and maybe I'm old hat, but invoking windowed UI widgets in a text-based interface seems like a cognitive dissonance to me. Like, why would I be working in a terminal if I wanted that type of user interaction? It just slows me down. Anyway, just my 2c.

I expect paste on right click, but instead it brings up a menu 👎 ...and that menu has copy but no paste?!? 👎 👎 I

is anyone looking into this feature?

I'm also missing this feature. In Hyper it's called "quickedit":

// if `true` (without backticks and without quotes), on right click selected text will be copied or pasted if no
// selection is present (`true` by default on Windows and disables the context menu feature)
quickEdit: true,

im having the same problem but it must've been triggered by something or some condition because it works on my other computer. this one don't work but its warp in windows and I'm sshing into proxmox but It used to work but now it just boxes it and no paste but I found out the middle click pastes and its even better anyway, my other PC is garuda dragonized and right click works as expected to and pastes

Hi, any feedback on this? :(

sparcbr avatar Jul 11 '25 14:07 sparcbr

Using right mouse click for paste is much easier on touchpad than doing a middle mouse click. Please allow us to change this, it is blocking me from changing to Warp

Any update? :/ Still a stopper for me to use it. It already have "Middle-click to paste". That's not relevant for macOS. Can you add the option "Right-click to paste" ? @dannyneira

As a cross-platform user this is a workflow breaker for me as well. Please enable right-click paste like every other terminal has!

I don't know what the scale is for feature importance, but for me it's the highest. This is the single reason why I keep going back to Tabby, even though I prefer the responsiveness and window management of Warp.

Hey folks as mentioned before, we do support middle-click paste on all the platforms, but not right-click paste support. This is in part because right-click shows a menu in Warp currently, so we'd have to find a way to default to paste and still be able to show the menu.

Right.. so how about the option to switch middle and right mouse click? Or make an option to have the menu appear with a modifier, like shift+right-click.

I personally have never once used anything in the right-click menu, even though I've mistakenly opened it a hundred times. For me the right-click menu just reminds that this is Warp instead of every other terminal.

To be honest, after more than 10 years of using Terminals all day, today I understood that there's a menu with Shift + Right-Click 😀 Never used this menu.
