expression-search
expression-search copied to clipboard
from search, interpret quotes
What steps will reproduce the problem?
searching for [ from:"first middle last" ] does not match person with name [ first middle last ] ( [ from:first ] matches, but, looking for this feature to differentiate between contacts with same first and last name but different middle names)
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected output are emails from 'first middle last',
actual output is no results
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
expression-search 0.8.6 on Thunderbird 24.0 on Windows 8 x64
Do you see any errors in Error Console?
No (cleared before searching to limit to relevant results)
Please provide any additional information below.
I'm unsure if the issue is only within the 'from' search operator, or others as well. Personally I've found it intuitive to use quotes to group search results regardless of the operator being used (since that's how gmail search works)

Can't reproduce, Either [from:"first middle last"] or [from:first middle last]
should work.
Would you please try press Ctrl and right click on the name of the "first
middle last" to see what happens? BTW, this is click_to_search.
Thanks.

Attachments:
ctrl + right click on the name of the "first middle last" in the emails message
list autofills the quick search/expression search box with "f:" followed by the
local part of their email address.
After trying this with several other emails, the issue seems to be
inconsistent; it works with contacts that I do not have in my contacts list,
but, for contacts that are in my contacts list, it does not work.
