Hi @walkxcode. Resubmitting, as updating existing PR #345 didn't go through as I thought, sorry.

This should now be a better fit with the separate icon page.

While the CDN mitigates performance issues, I don't know if that's enough to consider reinstating icons to the main README.

Also abandoned the idea of formatting icon links as markdown as it's sensitive to other markup on the page which is HTML anyway.
