Cannot load on Ubuntu 24.04

I installed the deps and then ran the python-script as instructed in the readme. The "Checking for updates" windows briefly shows up, then closes after it has checked for updates. OS: Ubuntu 24.04

I'm getting the same message on fedora

using latest git version: (althea:32423): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 13:09:41.283: gtk_widget_get_scale_factor: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

then the gui abruptly closes libappindicator-gtk3 is installed the socket also stays in use if I ctrl-c out of the python script in terminal.

Ok thats probably the issue then. I dont have appindicator-support extension installed, it currently does not support gnome 48.
