Add an option to choose snooze duration when the alarm rings

Open Universal-Igloo opened this issue 1 year ago • 8 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Each time my alarm rings, or often even earlier when the "upcoming alarm" notification shows, I already know how much later I want it to ring, but there is no option to snooze to my desired time on an individual alarm basis + if I dismiss it and reset the alarm to a new time, I need to either write up the labels again or choose to reschedule a recurring alarm while I only want to reschedule the one right now.

Describe the solution you'd like

  • add an option to "Custom snooze" or "Snooze for..."
  • add this option in 4 places, in the upcoming alarm notification, in the alarm ringing notification, on the alarm ringing screen, in the alarms tab in chrono
  • when we click that option, we get the same selector as for timers, where we can choose how many minutes or hours to delay it by
  • this can be optional to enable from settings

Describe alternatives you've considered There are no alternatives, yours is the most customizable app which solves a lot of pain points that other alarm apps don't and I really hope that you can solve this one as well. Thank you so very much for your work and effort 😇

add an option to "Custom snooze" or "Snooze for..."

You can already configure how long to snooze an alarm for when you hit snooze (Create Alarm > Customize > Snooze)

Having a customizable screen just for delaying a upcoming alarm or increasing the snooze duration during ringing might make it a bit bloated.

I agree with:

  1. I agree with a notifcation button taking you to a new time selector (complexity with tasks with alarm ringing notification
  2. (Create Alarm > Customize > Snooze > More) having a delay next alarm option

I am unsure how to deal with alarm ringing screen as the proposed solution sounds a bit bloated

Yes, I saw that. That's of course different though.

Having a customizable screen just for delaying a upcoming alarm or increasing the snooze duration during ringing might make it a bit bloated.

Makes sense.

  1. I agree with a notification button taking you to a new time selector (complexity with tasks with alarm ringing notification
  2. (Create Alarm > Customize > Snooze > More) having a delay next alarm option

A delay next alarm button in the notification would be perfect. Just having that option would meet all the above needs!

I am unsure how to deal with alarm ringing screen as the proposed solution sounds a bit bloated

Absolutely, makes sense. And if the "delay next alarm" option is doable, then that solves the problem anyway.

great feature, you can look at what this app does (for alarms on calendar events): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app_by_LZ.calendar_alarm_clock

I miss this feature coming from Alarm Klock. It's abandoned now, and a bit buggy on newer Android versions. Screenshot of the alarm UI below. Thank you for Chrono! 💙

Would love this option as well. It's very handy for reminders to do something at home but you're out, or many similar situations. You can just estimate when you'd be home (30 min, 2 hours, etc) and have the alarm or timer remind you then.

Timers4Me (no longer updated) had it, where if you enabled custom snooze times, it would replace the +X mins option with a Snooze (custom) button which would bring up a list of times, and had the same interface for both alarms and timers. Screenshots here

I think a further refinement on this could maybe have the last snooze time shown and used with a normal press, and a long press could bring up a menu. That could be a nice way to minimize bloat on normal use cases.

Having a customizable screen just for delaying a upcoming alarm or increasing the snooze duration during ringing might make it a bit bloated.

one solution for this could be to make either a separate button or a long-press/hold option on the current snooze button that opens a separate screen

Another option: Sleep as Android has 3 time options under the normal snooze button with a small hint of one on the edge that you can swipe to scroll to more options, see picture
