SoX is a free opensource utility for working with sound. It also can create audio spectrogram images that looks great. And another tool ffmpeg can even create spectrogram videos like...
Since it takes some effort to try the project out (Processing and its dependency management is a pain), having some demo files on the readme would be nice.
