Taskbar always ends up behind other windows whenever I wake the computer.

This issue has been plaguing me for years and I've put up with it. Most times after waking my computer, the taskbar is beneath my windows. I have to hit the windows key to surface it. Here's a screenshot of what it often looks like. image I should not that the screen on the right is Monitor 1/Primary Monitor (which is probably the reverse of how most people with dual screens setup their screens). Here's what it looks like with both screens in use. image

The only way to get the taskbar to show up is to press the Super Key. image

You'll note "Automatically hide the taskbar" is disabled. image

The only solution I've found was always clicking "Restart File Explorer" in the ExplorerPatcher properties. image Which obviously closes all open File Explorer windows.

Here's what it looks like when that is done. I should note that this is on the latest release as well.

My personal opinion is that valinet has stopped developing explorer patcher. It's been 2 months since the last stable version was released. But despite all the bugs, a new stable version has still not been released.

Try the latest pre-release: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases/tag/22621.3527.65.5_6f6666b

@mustafatoktas I'm in charge of maintenance right now. The problem is our new releases were flagged by MS's threat response team so we unfortunately had to set 65.1 as the latest release version. Speaking about development, I have been working on reverse engineering the 10 taskbar code so that we can continue to use it on 24H2 and that takes a long time.

@Hexadecimalism I can feel that this issue happens to me as well with the 10 taskbar. When resizing or moving the taskbar, the work area doesn't change, in other words, the maximized windows do not re-fit themselves. I have a feeling that this is a Windows bug due to MS making some changes to accomodate the Copilot sidebar.

🟢Thank you very much for your valuable response, Mr. @Amrsatrio . I wish you luck with your responsibility regarding the EP. I hope you will release an error-free and stable version as soon as possible.

🟢 I also want to ask this; Will we not be able to use the Win10 start screen in the 24h2 version of Windows11?

That's all that matters to me, because I only use this feature of the EP.

I wish, but I may try another shot sooner or later to see if they get flagged by humans as a virus or not.

Will we not be able to use the Win10 start screen in the 24h2 version of Windows11?

22621.3374 StartUI.dll: https://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols/startui.dll/68C16CAD853000/startui.dll place as C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.StartMenuExperienceHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\StartUI.dll

The 10 start menu still works after putting that file, but it does not position correctly when the taskbar is placed not at the bottom. That is the only issue that I can recall.

I recommend windows 10 users start their own issue/bug report. It's possible I didn't outright state that this is a problem I'm having in Windows 11 so I'll state it here.

Try the latest pre-release: https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher/releases/tag/22621.3527.65.5_6f6666b

Nope, doesn't solve my issue.

@Hexadecimalism There is nothing that @pyrates999 knows anyway. He gives the same advice to everyone who writes/reports a problem. And it is this: Try the latest pre-release....

He has no technical knowledge, he only knows how to use the keyboard.

Because that advice has worked.

@pyrates999 I didn't mention this issue in the release notes of 65.2 onwards so suggesting to use prerelease isn't an option here. Honestly I don't know how to fix this bug otherwise would've done it a long time ago.

Amrsatrio avatar Jun 18 '24 23:06 Amrsatrio

Either way, I'm positive it's not a copilot issue since I've been having this issue before copilot was a thing.

Aside from clicking on Restart File Explorer in the Properties window, I remove the X from Automatically hide the taskbar in the Taskbar tab. I then immediate put the X back. The maximized windows automatically shrink to show the taskbar and the taskbar becomes visible.
