We are also seeing this problem when closing certain spreadsheet files. I've attached an example file that has this problem: GainLossData-Dups-8-14-14.xlsx.
To reproduce this using the spreadsheet demo:
- upload the problem file
- Upload a second file (any spreadsheet file)
- The second load never completes. Instead the loading indicator persists until interrupted, for example by manually refreshing the page.

Thank you for your report. Do you have Vaadin version 7.6.5 or newer in use? I suspect that this might be an unrelated issue to the one reported in the ticket. That was due to the Framework itself and has been fixed.

I reproduced this on http://demo.vaadin.com/spreadsheet/ yesterday. Which version is the demo running?
I can reconfigured my application to 7.6.8. Unfortunately the bug was still there.

The demo is running on top up 7.6.6 so the original bug should not be present there either. I think you stumbled on a new bug.
For the attached GainLossData-Dups-8-14-14.xlsx workbook, the issue seems to be the comment: when you hide the comment, then uploading the workbook works fine.
