UTM Remote Desktop gives failed to connect to SPICE error
Describe the issue
When connected to remote server, any virtual machine on startup gives a Failed to connect to SPICE error. It is running on the Mac, but no display output is shown on the device.
The network error that happens sometimes if it is connecting too long
The SPICE error does not happen, but instead a network error is shown.
Configuration (required)
- UTM Version: 4.5.3 both on the Mac and iPad
- OS Version: 17.5.1
- Device Model: iPad mini 6th generation
- Mac Model: MacBook Air M2 13 inch
- Is it jailbroken (name jailbreak used)? No
- How did you install UTM? From the App Store
Crash log UTM did not crash.
Debug log
UTM Remote does not include a feature to get a log, and Debug Logging was off (on the Mac)
Upload VM
The issue happens on every virtual machine. It happens on Debian, Windows, and MacOS (PowerPC architecture, not a macOS-on-macOS VM).
I tried the solution in #6362, but it did not work for me. Seems like there is more than just file sharing issues :)
I have the same issue.
After hours of struggling, i resolved it finally by enabling automatic portforwarding through UPNP in my router. It seems that SPICE is opening dynamic ports when connecting over internet.

Thanks for this. Do you mean that you essentially set up a DMZ, forwarding all (not otherwise directed) ports to your personal machine? (That might be more of an issue for me as I have a NAS and multiple users connecting through the same router!)
