`qemu-system-aarch64` consuming significant resource in background eventhough no VM or UTM is running

Describe the issue I notice that qemu-system-aarch64 process is using significant CPU in Activity Monitor. UTM app is closed, no VM is running.

Is this behavior intentional?

Configuration

  • UTM Version: 3.2.4 installed from Mac App Store
  • OS Version: 12.5
  • Intel or Apple Silicon? Apple Silicon
