Inclusion of propeller thrust = system drag in MachUp.pitch_trim solution

Open aeromorrison opened this issue 6 years ago • 1 comments

Greetings,

I've been using MachUp_Py for a while now and so far really like it's usability and structure. One thing I've noticed is that in MachUp.pitch_trim the solution drives the lift and pitching moment solution errors to essentially zero, but the drag is not equated to thrust when a propeller is included. The solution is already accounting for the other effects of the propeller (e.g. on moment), but it does not appear to be converging a thrust=drag solution as well.

Since the propeller is already included in the model, it seems it should be fairly straightforward to also converge on the advance ratio until thrust=drag.

I'm very busy on a big project at the moment, but I may be able to assist with implementing this in the future if you don't get to it before I do. That is, assuming I'm not missing something in my evaluation of the code as it stands today.

Thanks for the heads up. You're right - that should be included.

We are doing a major overhaul of MachUp this summer and will add that to the list. If we don't get to it, feel free to chip in. Thanks.
