create `core` sub-project so we can use macros from `Main`. update libraries

Hi Dave. Nice project! I had to move the main class away to be able to use macros, sbt wouldn't compile otherwise. I also updated the library versions. I have one test failing (smoke-on-water), not sure what's going on there.
