User-Agent Randomisation: More current & common versions would be helpful.

Open cecoates opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

The user-agent randomiser is effective, but the versions it reports back are sometimes so uncommon it can make it pretty clear you're spoofing, even if they can't tell your real user-agent.

For example, if the Windows or MacOS versions are extremely out of date, or the Firefox and Safari versions are pretty out of date. Or with Chrome it reports something too current like 77, which isn't even on Stable yet.

Being able to stick to more recent versions of the browsers also helps prevent annoying messages from sites like Google that say your browser won't work because it's Firefox 61.

I support this statement.

Thanks for opening this... I am aware of the issues with the user-agent randomiser at the moment and they will be fixed in Trace 2.5 which I've already started to work on.

I'm hoping to add the option to specify custom user-agent strings, as well as giving the user more control over which versions of browsers and operating systems are included.
