Increasing General Page Visibility
This involves a decent amount of design. A lot of our pages on the ACM website are very hidden, and not many people know they exist. For example, Events, General Meeting, Town Hall, and Dev team page are all solely accessible from the footer of the page.
The footer is rarely looked at, and usually reserved for legal requirements and other stuff. Find a way to increase visibility to these important pages.
Our updates to #792 will help a bit with this, but we still want to do better.
Edit: Start by turning the events element in the navbar into a two-layered element: ie. events will drop down with an option for GM or Townhall etc
Is there a way to redesign the navbar to achieve this 👀

I was actually just thinking about that, I'm thinking we should make the navbar two layered - ie. events will drop down with an option for GM or Townhall etc

I had the same thought so I am in support of the two layered navbar
Initial idea:
(left to right: top to bottom)
- Committees: Studio, ICPC, Design, Cyber, TeachLA, W, AI, Cloud, Hack
- Initiatives: Dev Team, Impact, JEDI
- Events: Calendar, Linktree, General Meeting, Town Hall
- About: About Us, Open Source, Internship, Our History, Friends, Sponsors
- Team
- Member Login (no change)
Intended implementation:
- Internship can be set to dynamically appear as a top level navbar item during recruitment season (March-April, September-November)
- Each top level item with secondary items will have an acm-blue downward-pointing arrow (like a wide v)
- Hovering over a top level item with secondary items will expose a dropdown menu for those secondary items (white box, aligned to left border of nav item, fixed, bottom-right drop shadows, blue on hover, committees will show their colors on hover)
- Cursor leaving dropdown box or the border of the nav item in the top level navbar will hide the dropdown box
- On smaller screens (when hamburger icon appears), currently there is a basic 2-level navbar where the committees are shown. This will be changed so that secondary items are only shown when the top-level item is clicked/tapped (toggle open). Layout will be redesigned as looks a bit messy right now.
- Other parts of home screen including footer will be unchanged.
