Asking open source community to contribute? Where's the incentive?
We appreciate the invitation to contribute, but Twitter is a big company, it has laid off huge numbers of developers screwing them over - maybe offer a bounty for contributions rather than looking to exploit our efforts to keep the platform afloat
What would make you think they're interested in open source contributions? This is going to be a read-only folder dump in about 20 minutes.

That big section at the bottom of README.md
"We invite the community to submit GitHub issues and pull requests for suggestions on improving the recommendation algorithm. "
And what part of that do you think was truthful, honest, or added in good faith?

Completely irrelevant. IF they're expecting contributions then they should incentivise.
Lmfao. They are not expecting/hoping for contributions, see how all the PRs have been closed, and they will not pay you to work on it. This is Twitter run by Musk we're talking about, or hadn't you heard the news?
I agree with the idea that OSS work should be compensated in some way. I just know you're barking up the wrong tree.

I can assure I'm not because I absolutely wouldn't seek to contribute to them at all (#MastodonFtw) but more making a point for all to see - a point of "These guys just fucked over so many devs - don't be so quick to want to volunteer your time for them"
That sentiment I can 100% agree with!
