Troubleshooting tool
Tool for troubleshooting, both for users in general but especially for assisting with support.
Collects:
- all of
/var/log - journal of everything for past hour
- all journal errors
- journal of inithooks
- version info of turnkey, debian, mysql, apache, postgres, nginx, lighttpd, etc.
- tree of
/var/www
Then optionally tars it up
Great idea and I think that it would be awesome to have a tool like that preinstalled! It would make troubleshooting issues much better.
Also, perhaps we should consider some error telemetry? Obviously we'd want it to be opt in, but might allow us to be a bit more proactive and get info about issues before anyone reports them?
Rather than reinventing the wheel, perhaps there is some OSS that we could leverage? A quick google turned up a few possibilities:
https://opentelemetry.io/docs/specs/otel/error-handling/ https://docs.otterize.com/overview/otterize-oss/error-telemetry
TBH I haven't read through them, so not sure that those particular ones would be fit for our purposes? But hopefully it's a start...
Perhaps I should open a separate issue for that?
