Parentheses and brackets within arrows

I love that the pipe symbol can be used within an arrow sequence:

It would be great if this could be extended to parentheses () as well as brackets [] {}. A reasonable use case is:

A ---( has a )---> B

And I imagine sequences such as ---(---, ---[---, and ---{--- would visually look like one unbroken line with the parenthesis/bracket cutting through it (as opposed to a small gap between one side of the parenthesis/bracket and the rest of the line).

Please let me know your thoughts.
