Would be useful if the session would directly be displayed like this on the NewTab page. This makes it transparent what session you have and allows easy access. In the picture I combined your Session Manager with an extension Search Selection with Bookmarks, which is totally useless, but has a useful bookmarks overview. Combining those two extension would create are surf-dashboard, with the persistently saved pages as bookmarks on the left, and the temporarily saved pages as sessions on the right.

Thanks for the detailed feature request! I love this idea.

While it's not currently possible to make NTP override optional – an extension must always or never override – there could be two versions of the extension, or other possible workarounds.
