Bug: manualContinuousScrolling:true crashes IE11 on Win7

Hi Thomas,

If You set "manualContinuousScrolling: true" and "touchScrolling: true" it crashes the browser "internet explorer 11" on the system "windows 7".

I could provide You with an example, but it already happens with the example on http://smoothdivscroll.com/touchScroller.html. If You open that website with IE11 on Win7 and start pulling the demo, it freezes the complete browser after a few seconds (the images are shivering). Then the browser doesn't respond to any action, not on the website nor the buttons from the browser itself. You have to kill the tab/browser with the task manager to be able to use the IE11 again.

I have tested this on 4 diffenrent computers with windows 7, so it seems to me to be a general problem with this browser-system combination. In my test I came to the conclusion, that the bug comes through "manualContinuousScrolling: true", because with all starting parameters it only crashed when this was set. I didn't test it wiht IE11 on Win8 but I would expect it to be the same.

The bug also accurs with the "SmoothTouchScroll" plugin. That is why I also post this bug to the github page for SmoothTouchScroll. I didn't find this bug mentioned anywhere so far, that's why I startet this issue.

For my project as a work around I test for the browser/system and exclude the IE11 on Win7 from the manualContinuousScrolling. This works for now, but the true experience only comes with manualContinuousScrolling.

Thank You very much for the great plugin, I love using it ...

Best wishes from Germany!

I have also experienced this bug but thankyou for telling me it was manualContinuousScrolling as I will now disable this for IE

I can confirm this - it freezes the browser. I will have to look into what causes this freeze. Thanks for reporting it!

Hi Thomas,

I did further testing and it now seems to me, that this bug occurs on all versions of the internet explorer. I did test with my project and Your example on http://smoothdivscroll.com/touchScroller.html and here are some browser/system combinations where this bug occurs: Win 8 with IE10 Win 7 with IE11 Win Vista with IE8 Win XP with IE6 Win XP with IE8 Win with IE9 I will continue to test on different maschines and add them to this list.

If I set set "manualContinuousScrolling:false" and "touchScrolling:true", then it works ok. But the true feeling only comes with "manualContinuousScrolling:true" and "touchScrolling:true" and this is what crashes the browser. The crashes occur at different times. with the diffenrent browsers. With most of them it starts right when You start pulling the images. With the IE8 it works ok, if YoOu pull the images from right to left, but it freezes, when You start pulling vom left to right.

The workaround for now is that I exclude all IE versions from "manualContinuousScrolling:true", but as mentioned before, this doesn't look too good with my project (and Your example).

Best wishes from Germany!

I'm pleased to know that I am not the only one experiencing this issue
