Is Mailbox Alerts supposed to work on a Saved Search Folder (Local Folder)?

I have a Saved search as a Local Folder. I attached a Maibox-Alert to this folder. However, the alert is not triggered when new mail "arrives" in this folder. Is Mailbox Alerts supposed to work on a Saved Search folder?

(The Alerts work in a regular Inbox folder)
