Locate me - Feature request
Could you please consider including some way for users to press a location button to find out their location in relation to the track?
For example I have recently expanded what I do with trackserver by showing colleagues bus routes for training, it would be handy if they think they are lost to press a 'current location' button to show a flag or something marking their current position so they can then see if they are 'on' or 'off' track (I use embedded maps for this but it could also be useful for people trying to find me when I'm live!)
Interesting idea. I have always thought of this in terms of a shared map with multiple tracks where people can find each other, but a one-way, client-only implementation could also be useful.
It's not difficult to build, but I do have a question:
As this is not functionality that would be used by many users, I do not want to include such a button on every map by default, so we need a way to enable it per map. Do you have a suggestion on how to do this? Would a shortcode attribute suffice?
Yes, I thought it might already be implemented so checked the short code list, alas it was not.
It would really help anyone locate where they are in relation to the live tracking however they'd have to stop the live tracking first to prevent the map moving so perhaps if you selected that button it would automatically stop the live tracking until they manually restarted.
I thought I'd just post the picture to clarify that it's the same feature as you'd have on Google maps so hitting the button takes you to your location (on this screenshot it shows orientation too but that's not important)
funny, I don't often check what updates have occurred on my sites and thought I'd check your changelog literally just now just to find you've added this 30 mins ago :D cant wait for the release!
