Compatibility with newer ROS

Just wondering if there is any plan to update this package to be compatible with the current distributions of ROS?

I've hacked around to get it up and running again, but it can't seem to establish connection with any subscriber.

Actually, the subscriber seems to be working, while the publisher doesn't.
