Ignoring individual topics
This might be a community-building anti-pattern (ignoring) but it sure would be nice to maybe even style a topic appropriately if you have no interest in clicking into it.
Seeing an "unread" topic I don't care about and the only way of setting it as read is to click into it is ... annoying.
I don't think we'd necessarily need to fully hide the topic, but maybe setting a "not-interested" join table between a user and a topic would be a good first step.
or even a mark as read button like email?
Ignoring completely sounds like an overkill, just unsubscribing from notifications for a particular topic should be enough? Like Github.
Ignoring IS complete overkill. Letting it visually fade into the background would be SUPER nice.
A dual to this feature would be subscribing to all updates in a topic. So, the options are:
- Notify on mention (default).
- Notify on all updates.
- Do not notify.
Update (Oct 2018): Thredded does have follow / unfollow but not "Not interested".
