Allow preset filtering options upon opening file choose

By default, the file picker forces the UI to use large icons and sorts by name. Our users like using lists and want to sort by creation date. Could we add an input option to specify these filters prior to opening?

I have a few other things I'd like to work on first @thomasp85. However, @wolfpack12 if you are interested in creating a PR/MR for this I would be happy to look at that

I have the same question: how to open the file picker with a list as a default. Was there any progress?
