Continue recording if Galicaster restarts after a scheduled recording has started but before it has ended
In some cases, Galicaster can die while a scheduled recording is running:
- Recording starts
- segfault (e.g. #485) or some other crash, or power is interrupted
- Galicaster restarts
- Recording start date has passed. There is a short recovered recording but the rest is lost.
In this case, it would be ideal for Galicaster to start a new recording, with the same series and other metadata as the original recording but a new mediapackage ID and a title like "Continued - original title".
So you'd end up with 2 recordings:
Recovered - original title Continued - original title
Neither should ingest automatically.
That option would be great. also if that happens, get the feature that galicaster merge the videos automatically to later ingest in Opencast.
these features already exist in uom checkrepo, i'll sort out a pull request soon
ive made a pull request, please feel free to test this functionality. we've been using versions of this for several years and has helped us totally automate crashes and reboots etc
additionally this doesn't strictly follow @smarquard requested behaviour but its a start. files would be saved in rectemp and optionally merged
