Retraction test makes my extruder spin like crazy

I was doing a retraction test and on the skirt of it it was doing the front line perfectly fine then when it came to turning the corner the printhead slowed down a lot and the extruder started spinning like crazy. Then after the corner and when it went to the back line it printed fine again then the same thing happened to the last corner.

This was on a ender 3 v2 with custom gcode

Are you using any custom gcode? I had the same thing happen to me when modifying the retraction settings on the first layer test, but only whilst my start gcode was applied.

Yes I was using a custom start gcode. I have a very ‘specific’ start gcode of “START_PRINT” and that seems to cause trouble.
