What is the simplest way to get ding or motion?

Hi, I need some advise. I am playing with the script and I am trying to figure out what would be the easiest way to get ding or motion detection to OpenHAB. Do I need to look in to the event history or is there some other simpler way? (I have one ring doorbell and one chime)
