Resolution when resizing

Is there a technique I could use to keep the resolution of the original image in tact? Each time I draw on the image it appears to lose a bit of resolution. I am also using cropperjs for rotation and cropping and that control does maintain the resolution.

BTW: Thanks for all the great work on this. It is surprising that there are not more components available for image manipulation.
