feature(RefModel): Add RefModel

I can't for the life of me get RefModel in the global space for the unit tests.

Otherwise, I believe this PR fits the proposal I made in #174.

I'm not familiar with the types testing framework used here, and might need to dig into that a bit more to figure out how to utilize it.
