With esphome coding the battery does not power the device nor show up

With just esphome? Has the battery powered the board before? And after loading the esphome example it doesnt?

I don't know about before I loaded esphome I only know about after I loaded esphome on it

One thing to check first is make sure the polarity of your battery is correct. If it's backwards it won't power the board.
