Pushover: please add an option to ignore NOTICEs

Open Mikaela opened this issue 8 years ago • 2 comments

On the channels where I am in, NOTICEs are mainly used by bots as the RFC tells to use them and thus treated as less important than PRIVMSGs, and when my WeeChat reconnects to IRC, it will get multiple NOTICEs and with one notice per minute my Pushover account receives InfoServ NOTICE which isn't useful for me.

4.4.2 Notice

      Command: NOTICE
   Parameters: <nickname> <text>

The NOTICE message is used similarly to PRIVMSG. The difference
between NOTICE and PRIVMSG is that automatic replies must never be
sent in response to a NOTICE message. This rule applies to servers
too - they must not send any error reply back to the client on
receipt of a notice. The object of this rule is to avoid loops
between a client automatically sending something in response to
something it received. This is typically used by automatons (clients
with either an AI or other interactive program controlling their
actions) which are always seen to be replying lest they end up in a
   loop with another automaton.

See PRIVMSG for more details on replies and examples.

Would an option to blacklist certain tags (see /debug tags) help for this?

Sorry for the long response, I think so as I see irc_notice tags and I think it might be useful to block some other tags in the future too.

Could option to blacklist certain tags also include the option to use wildcards? I thinkit might be helpful with some bots, especially at freenode where they generally have /bot/ in their host which appears in deubg tags.
